The Huskies Club - Supporting your Michigan Tech Student Athletes

The Huskies Club

Where will my contributions go?

Your membership will help the Huskies Club raise funds for the Athletic Department's general scholarship account, as this is the sole funding source for the grant-in-aid program for all varsity sports.

The continued success of our athletic teams depends not only on the efforts of our coaching staff and student athletes, but also on you—the loyal Michigan Tech supporter!

How do I contribute?

Join the Huskies ClubAlthough monetary contributions are the most common method of supporting the Huskies Club, other outright gifts may be in the form of securities, real and personal property, and gifts in kind.

Planned gifts, such as life income plans and bequests, provide immediate charitable income tax deductions.

Some gifts, such as endowment and capital gifts, may be named in honor of a donor or in tribute to another individual or organization.

Endowments can ensure long-term financial support to Michigan Tech athletics by providing annual income in perpetuity for the purpose specified by the donor.

To join simply contact Joel Isaacson at 906/487-1915 or make a gift online right now.

How do I join?

Student AthletesYour Huskies Club membership is based on a fiscal year beginning July 1 and ending June 30. You can pay in full or we can bill you semi-annually. Also, you have the option of paying your membership fee by check, credit card, or payroll deduction if you are a University employee. If you decide to pay by check, make it payable to Michigan Tech Fund and designate it for The Huskies Club. A Booster member contributes from $100-$174; a Silver Huskies member contributes from $175-$299; a Golden Huskies member contributes from $300-$499; an Honorary Coaches member contributes from $500-$999; and an Honorary Athletic Directors member conributes at least $1,000.

What about matching gifts?

Many employers will match, double, or even quadruple the amount of a pledge, thus adding significantly to the value of the Huskies Club membership. Matching gifts are recognized as part of your contribution to Michigan Tech.

To obtain a matching gift, go to your personnel department and return the form with pledge card to MTU.

A commitment to excellence

The Huskies Club is comprised of individuals whose primary focus is providing financial assistance to Michigan Tech athletics. Working cooperatively with the Michigan Tech Athletic Department and the Michigan Tech Fund, the Huskies Club provides scholarships and other means of support to the all-encompassing athletic program of MTU. As a member of the Huskies Club, you can take pride in knowing that more than three hundred student-athletes will have the opportunity to develop their potential in athletics, while at the same time receiving a quality education.

To support and ensure the growth and quality of Michigan Tech athletics, private support from individuals and companies, now more than ever, is important. Consider your contribution as an investment. Whether you are an individual, small business, or a large corporation, we welcome your membership in the Huskies Club.

What are the benefits?

Student AthletesThe primary benefit of your Huskies Club membership is knowing you help many young people realize their goals. For a number of these individuals, attending college would be impossible without the guarantee of scholarship assistance. Other benefits include: recognition on the display board at the Student Development Complex, a $25 reduction for the first member when purchasing a Student Development Complex membership, a newsletter, and a license plate. In addition, the following benefits apply based on your donation level:

Silver Huskies receive a parking pass for home hockey games, a $38 value. (Those outside the area can request a pass for the games they plan to attend by calling the Athletic Department. All parking passes will be mailed to those in the area.)

Golden Huskies receive two tickets to the Varsity Awards Banquet.

Supporters at the Honorary Coach level receive a pass to the McLeod Alumni Lounge.

Supporters at the Honorary Athletic Director level receive two tickets to the Hall of Fame dinner.

What are the tax benefits?

State and federal income tax laws allow generous tax credits to encourage gifts to colleges and universities. Your membership in the Huskies Club, through the Michigan Tech Fund, can actually cost you considerably less than the actual dollar amount of your gift.

All contributors will receive a federal income tax deduction if they itemize. Michigan residents receive the benefit of the special Michigan Tax Credit, which allows a portion of contributions to be credited against state income tax. The allowable credit is 50 percent of the gift, but not to exceed $200 for a joint return and $100 for a single return.
