Campus Campaign

As the University strives to educate today's youth, employees have the opportunity to help out beyond their normal duties. They can do so through the annual Campus Campaign, which offers all faculty and staff the chance to invest in any program or activity at Michigan Tech. The Michigan Tech Fund has conducted this annual in--house program since 1977. The Campus Campaign is an important tool in getting faculty and staff to participate in supporting the University at any level.

The challenge is to meet the needs of students in an increasingly complex world. The reward is getting there. And all faculty and staff can contribute to the effort. "The University's mission is compelling, and our hopes are that, over time, all employees will recognize and support what we do as an institution. It's just a matter of us adequately demonstrating the need and encouraging everybody to lend a hand,” says Paula Nutini, Director of Annual Giving and Stewardship.

Overall, the participation among faculty and staff ranges from 32 to 42 percent each year, one of the highest levels of employee support among public schools in Michigan. "Our short term goal is 50 percent participation," says Nutini. "Our long range goal is 100 percent." Both are attainable, she maintains.

Employees are urged to do two things: make multi--year pledges and use payroll deduction. Multi--year pledges add up nicely, Nutini notes. In addition, giving by payroll deduction is convenient, easy to manage, and painless – it's an easy way to give without counting the cost.

A total of 360 Michigan Tech faculty and staff supported the annual Campus Campaign during 2005-2006. These employees contributed $149,738.89 during the year.
