The Michigan Tech Annual Fund is dedicated to securing crucial, unrestricted contributions that benefit today's Michigan Tech students. Annual Fund support may be directed to a particular academic department (each department has its own unrestricted account), or it may be directed to the University's general unrestricted account.
The financial contributions the University receives each year from alumni and friends play a big role in the overall quality of life at Tech for each and every student. Your gift to the Michigan Tech Annual Fund helps the University maintain its national ranking as a high-quality institution; continue to produce highly qualified graduates to enter the work force; be an institution that attracts substantial research funding; create a work environment that appeals to some of the nation's top faculty; continue to provide first-class classroom and laboratory facilities; and provide innovative programs to enhance each student's education.
All alumni are strongly encouraged to support the Annual Fund each year. It is Michigan Tech's #1 priority for ongoing, yearly support!
This Year's Goal
Annual Fund gifts have immediate impact on Michigan Tech's high quality departments and programs. Thousands of alumni and friends chose to demonstrate their belief in the value of a Michigan Tech degree last year by supporting the Annual Fund with more than $1.54 million in contributions.
Our 2007-2008 Annual Fund campaign—with a goal of $1.58 million—got underway on July 1st. We hope you will choose to make a gift this year and show your Tech pride!

How Your Gift Will be Used
Enhancements to the overall Michigan Tech experience, made possible through Annual Fund contributions, are virtually limitless. Here are a few ways these Annual Fund gifts can impact a student's education:
- Departmental classroom and laboratory supplies
- Travel funds for faculty/students to attend conferences
- Support for senior design projects and presentations
- Purchase of equipment for student competitions
- Funds for a class trip
Annual Giving Clubs
| Professors Club | $100–249 |
| Deans Club | $250–499 |
| Provosts Club | $500–999 |
| Presidents Club | $1,000–2,499 |
| Trustees Club | $2,500–4,999 |
| Governors Club | $5,000–9,999 |
| Leadership Club | $10,000 and higher |
- A minimum gift of $100 will place your name on the annual Honor Roll of Donors.
- Individuals making an annual gift of $1,000 or more will receive a Presidents Club recognition plaque.
Tax Advantages
Gifts to Michigan Tech are fully deductible on an individual's federal tax return if they itemize, subject to limitations based on percentage of taxable income. In addition, through the Public Contributions Credit, Michigan residents can receive tax credit on their contributions of up to 50 percent of the total gift amount. The maximum credit is $200 for a return filed jointly and $100 for a single return.
Corporate Matching Gifts
If you work for a matching gift company, please take the necessary steps to ensure your gift will be matched. If you don't know if you work for a matching gift company, ask your employer's personnel office. These programs double, and sometimes even triple, the benefits to Michigan Tech.
