Recruitment
University Career Center Partner
Student support is offered through the University's Career Center in a variety of contexts to facilitate the employment search process and overall professional development. Corporate funding facilitates student participation in the recruitment process through a web-based system managed by Michigan Tech's Career Center. Key features include no-fee access for student resume uploading, the ability to place student resumes on line, easy registration for interview slots and information about Career Day offerings. This program supports and improves the ability of corporate recruiters to have access to the best candidates during the recruitment process for full-time employees, co-op participants and interns.
The Career Center partnership further strengthens a growing, mutually-beneficial relationship between corporations and Michigan Tech. There are over two dozen companies that have undertaken this annual commitment, including Ford, Union Pacific, Dow Chemical, 3M, Bosch, and Toyota. These corporations recognize that the need to recruit a quality, diverse workforce necessitates the utilization of increasingly sophisticated and customized approaches, including cooperative venues at the University level including offerings of Michigan Tech's Career Center and Corporate Development.
Career Center Partnership generates visibility for participating companies. Each partner's name is placed in Career Day literature and in a well-trafficked area of the Career Center, situated in the University's Meese Center, that is highly visible to visitors, students, staff and faculty.
Corporate Benefit
Funding of the Career Center Partners program yields several benefits for corporations including:
- access to data from the Career Center's updated systems
- the display of corporate logo on first page of Career Center web site
- the recognition of Career Center Partner at major Career Center seminars
- the opportunity to place an affiliate on the Career Center Advisory Board
Physical placement of corporations' names is key, and high visibility is ensured as hundreds of companies and thousands of students pass through the Meese Center and read the Career Day literature every year.
The Career Center Partner program supports enhanced access to female and historically underrepresented students. Partners can use targeted search criteria describing desired features of candidate profiles. Electronic reports generated from these searches support the "short-listing" of candidates meeting criteria specified by individual companies to facilitate the development of interview lists and potential award recipients.
